UNICEF Supply Division (SD) manages an estimated 2500 shipments of vaccines to over 100 countries on a yearly basis.
As part of the shipping process, a Vaccine Arrival Report (VAR) - a requirement from World Health Organisation (WHO) Guidelines on International Packaging and Shipping of Vaccines WHO/IVB/05.23 must be completed by an authorized inspector and returned to UNICEF within 3 working days of receiving the shipment.
The VAR provides a means to indicate cold chain conditions during international transport and note problems related to condition of the vaccines at time of delivery.
Using the VAR Mobile App, consignee and supervisor will be notified of an incoming shipment 48 hours before arrival.
The app allows inspector to gather the information for the VAR directly into their mobile device and submit electronically to supervisor, who in turn approves for submission to UNICEF SD.
