Plastic optical fiber formed as a letter U (in Czech U-sonda) can serve as a liquid sensor.
Your camera is a perfect transmitter and receiver for this purpose.
Esentially the app measures light intensity, in percentage.
You just need to fabricate the sensor.
Take a piece of plastic optical fiber, remove the jacket in the middle and bend it by e.g.
a lightly warmed soldering iron.
Use a piece of plastic that will hold boths ends and drill holes into it.
Use a scotch tape to attach it to the phone.
In air click 'Calibrate'.
Indicated power will decrease after putting the probe into a liquid.
Higher index of refraction causes lower power.
