Until now in Spain we could know the Ancient Egypt through the room of the NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM in Madrid and in the CLOS ARCHAEOLOGICAL FOUNDATION in Barcelona, dedicated exclusively to the Egyptian civilization.
From now on, the EGYPTIAN MUSEUM OF MELILLA (M.E.M.) will join them being the second Museum of this singular theme in our country.
The EGYPTIAN MUSEUM OF MELILLA consists of three floors, a projection room, a games room, a souvenir store and a workshop for the restoration and consolidation of archaeological pieces.
All the capitals of the museum are in the shape of the Goddess Hathor, Goddess of joy, motherhood and love, protector of pregnant women, childbirth and midwives, Goddess of music and dance.
On the walls you will find more than seventy information panels that will introduce you to the archaeological missions sponsored by the GASELEC FOUNDATION; geographical notions, historical introduction, chronology of almost all the pharaohs and their names in hieroglyphics, panoramic view of the royal cemetery Meroe and the third cataract of the Nile River in North Sudan, daily life, economy, hygiene, professions, clothing, make-up, jewelry and how gold was worked, mummification of animals, religion and religious festivals, temples and gods, military organization and weapons, etc.
