Long Division Process Practice provides long division problems to instruct and demonstrate steps to solve long division problems.
Drag numbers and symbols from the left side of the screen to the red question mark on the right for each step.
Note that products of multiplication steps must be entered right-to-left! This helps enforce proper alignment of digits for the next step of subtraction.
Also, each digit of the numerator must be processed individually, including the very first (even if it is a zero).
This way gives the most iterations in the process that are possible, as well as helping reinforce the rule that zero may be an answer for the quotient, and zeroes may exist in the digits of the numerator, but we cannot divide by zero.
Solutions do not require remainders, although the problem is not accepted as complete until the final whole digit is reached and a subtraction difference of zero is entered.
