Shrimad Bhagwad Gita is a part of a spiritual book Mahabharata, which tells us about our ancient history, written by MahaRishi Ved Vyaas.
In Mahabharata, Munivar Vyaas narrated the history of the most powerful kingdom Hastinapur of that time.
The kingdom was ruled by Kuru descendants.
The injustice of Maharaj Dhritarashtra and the unethical actions of his son Duryodhana created a war situation among the Kuru clans.
In which on one side were the sons of Maharaja Dhritarashtra, the entire Kuru royal family and their associates and on the other hand the sons of Pandu and their associates.

Then Lord Shri Krishna, who became Arjuna's charioteer, preached the Gita to Arjuna, which we all know today as Shrimad Bhagwadgita.
Even today the Gita gives us knowledge about the dharma and duties of a human being.
Recitation of Gita inspires a man to keep on progressing on the path of spiritual peace and duty.
