The PUC program is a two-year course taken up after the 10th.
It is the equivalent of High School in the CBSE curriculum.
The PUC Commerce program sets the foundation for a career in Management and leadership positions throughout life.
Be it a family business, a corporate, a start-up or any other type of organization, PUC Commerce acts as a launchpad for students to enter the right UG program in line with their goals.
In recent years, the Karnataka PU Board has introduced several Arts combinations under the ambit of PUC Commerce as well.
The PUC program is structured such that students gain an understanding of core management and commerce subjects along with an elective course that will help them learn the basics of the subjects they would like to take up in their undergrad.
Along with these core subjects, PUC also includes two languages as part of the curriculum.
The student can choose one option from Sanskrit, Hindi or Kannada as one of the languages in Sri Vdyaniketan Public School and PU college .
The other mandatory language is English.
COURSE HIGHLIGHTS
Each student takes up two mandatory Certification Courses per year.
These courses help students develop ancillary skills as well as industry knowledge and helps them gain a significant edge over their peers.
The Courses are delivered by expert industry members from various organizations from Delhi Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.
The certification courses are updated for every batch to keep them current with industry expectations.
The Certification Courses includes Communication, Debate & Logic, Digital Marketing, Stock Market, Tally, and Excel.
There are at least 5 Expert Talks that happen every year.
Experts from the Industry, as well as Academia, come to Sri Vdyaniketan Public School and PU college to interact with the students and share their knowledge about current trends, as well as guide students in choosing the right path ahead for them.
Students are taken on at least 2 Industrial Visits every year.
These visits are not just limited to places around Gangavathi but include other cities in Karnataka as well.
These visits happen to various industries, corporates and institutes.
They give students a chance to experience the functioning of the world outside and learn from professionals and their environments.
Students are taken to one National Student Trip during their 2 years( Depends on the situation).
This experience allows them to bond with their peers, explore new cities and cultures, and learn more about the world outside their cities.
Each theoretical concept that a student learns during their PUC Commerce is accompanied by sessions on their practical applications as well.
These added sessions help students understand the importance of what they are studying along with the process of implementing them in the world around them.
Various events are conducted throughout the year for students to participate in.
These events help students showcase their passion and talent in areas like fine arts, performances, Management, tech, sports, fashion etc.
Organizing these events also help students understand how the theories they learn in Management play out in real life.
Sri Vidyaniketan Public School and PU college follows the Reflexive Teaching Method and Flipped Classroom Teaching method wherein students are grouped and asked to present various topics, that are part of their syllabus, in the class.
Not only does this help students learn the topics better and encourage peer learning, but it also helps students develop confidence and learn effective communication.
