With the reason to rearrange the classic ushul fiqh building, the authors here try to depart from the principal issues that underlie the ushul fiqh building.
For this, by gathering various views on this matter, we will present the study in a form that is somewhat different from the general format of ushul fiqh compiled in the classical and medieval centuries, perhaps even some with ushul fiqh books in the 20th century.
By borrowing the criticism of Sheikh Abdullah Darraz, that aspect of ushul fiqh that seems to have been neglected for several centuries in the preparation of ushul fiqh is the aspect of maqashid shari'ah.
In most classic ushul fiqh books, maqasid shari'ah studies are generally only alluded to when discussing and for the benefit of qiyas.
In fact, theoretically, every formulation of ushul fiqh basically takes into account these fundamental aspects (maqasid shari'ah).
Therefore, in this paper the author seeks to re-elevate this aspect, even trying to find a meeting point between the methods formulated by previous scholars and the maqasid syari'ah aspect.
With this kind of presentation, it is hoped that we will be able to place every decision-making in the field of Islamic law in its true proportions, namely to realize the benefit of humanity.
With the publication of this book, ushul iqh scholars can deepen and broaden their horizons about ushul iqh in a more comprehensive manner, because it contains various information about the istinbat method.
This book shows original and clever ideas in developing the study of ushul iqh which is the foundation for the development of Islamic law in Indonesia.
I hope that the presence of this book will bring benefits to Muslims and especially to ushul iqh scholars and will further enrich the intellectual treasures of Islam in Indonesia.
