Jalalain's commentary is generally regarded as a classic Sunni commentary which is widely used as a reference, because it is considered easy to understand and consists of only one volume.
The Jalalain Interpretation Book (Tafsir al-Jalalayn, meaning: "two Jalal interpretations") is a book of interpretations written by two Jalalain Imams namely Imam Jalaluddin Muhammad bin Ahmad Mahalli (al-Mahalli) and Shaykh Jalaluddin 'Abdurrahman bin Abi Bakar Suyuthi (al- Suyuthi)
Jalalain's Tafsir was originally composed by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, and then continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi in 1505.
Jalaluddin al-Mahalli started writing interpretations from the beginning of surah Al-Kahf to the end of sura An-Naas, after that he interpreted surah Al-Fatihah to completion.
Al-Mahalli then died before he could continue.
Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi then continued, and started from surah Al-Baqarah to sura Al-Isra'.
Then he put the interpretation of surah Al-Fatihah at the end of the sequence of interpretations of the previous Al-Mahalli.
