This book is a series collected from several papers on the theme of Islamic historiography and history.
The first three papers contain descriptions of historiography as an introduction to both historiography in the Islamic world and historiographical problems in Indonesia, then discuss the history of Indonesian Islam in several different topics.
It is hoped that the discussion on historiography in several early writings can serve as an introduction to subsequent readings so that there is continuity or a framework that can facilitate reading, directly or indirectly.

Although Jajang Arohmana's writings discuss two major figures as elite groups, namely colonial officials Snouck Hurgronje and Nusantara clerics, Haji Hasan Mustapa, the focus is not on their power as colonial officials but on religious romantic friendship based on the correspondence between the two historical actors.
The writings of the pesantren network in Sunda Priangan explain the growth, relations, brotherhood and genealogy relations between cleric clerics and pesantren which have formed their own networks.
Likewise, PUI's progress in the history of its da'wah, the suffering of the people of Sukabumi during the war, the role of the Garut clergy in eradicating corruption and the activities of the Jama'ah Tabligh in Bandung, all of which are a type of social history that focuses its discussion on the role of non-rulers, kings and government, or politics.
