Run this app named GPS Attendance Tracker using MyAndroid.
You can do it using our Android online emulator.
An Android app that helps students keep track of their college attendance by automatically marking them either present/absent based on their location at the time of the class and the location of the class.
Steps:
1.
Add your subject name and your attendance marked so far by your teacher using the presents and absents counter.
2.
Add the coordinates of your class where it is supposed to happen ( can use google maps to retrieve the latitude and longitude of the class ) and the range ( in meters ), which the app will take as the maximum acceptable distance, if you are under the range then you will be marked present, otherwise absent.
3.
Then save the data.
4.
Move to the "Timetable" Screen, and select the subject and set it's respective timing's in which the class will start or in which you want the app to start marking your attendance, then select the day of the week and save.
5.
That's it.
The app will automatically start the attendance procedure when the time comes and will retrieve student's current location and calculate the distance from the class and if the distance is in the range that the user entered, then the user will be marked present and absent otherwise.
FAQ:
1.
What will happen if the user doesn't provide the latitude, longitude or range?
Ans: The app will go off as normal and in case it didn't find any of the fields (latitude, longitude or range), then it will just give a simple notification to the user, from which the user can mark attendance by either pressing "Present" or "Absent".
The user doesn't have to open app for marking the attendance if the timetable for that particular subject is present.
2.
What if the class happened in some other location then usual, how will I change the attendance status?
Ans: In case of wrong attendance marking by the app, the user can change the marked attendance by clicking on the button on notification, which says, in case you are marked present, then "No, I was absent" or "No, I was present" otherwise, which will revert the attendance marked.
Another way of doing this is by going to logs screen and manually updating the log.
