The Gauteng Department of eGovernment is one of the 13 Departments under the Gauteng Provincial Government tasked with the responsibility to be the ICT shop for the Provincial Government, providing various ICT services to the other departments and the citizens of Gauteng.
The Department of eGovernment is therefore the custodian of all technology requirements of the province, including being an innovation hub for new ideas and implementation of new technologies, including traversing the Province into 4IIR strategy.
The Gauteng Department of eGovernment developed the eWaste Strategy which was apporved by the Gauteng cabinet for implementation a strategy which has at its core the introduction of eWaste collection procedures and processes and motivate society and state institutions across the Gauteng province.

Develop a eWaste Implentation Plan
Develop an Economic Model
Develop a Database of eWaste Operators
Provide Capacity Building / Training for various stakeholders
Create and Support SMMEs in the eWaste Value Chain
Promote the Recycling, ReUse, RePurpose of eWaste
Create economic value within the eWaste Value Chain
