The idea of the Dressed App - The Virtual Historical Wardrobe came about as part of the culture hackathon Coding da Vinci 2021 in Schleswig-Holstein.
The Schleswig-Holstein State Library (SHLB) in Kiel opened up part of its state history collection for this purpose and made digital copies and metadata on historical, regional costumes, robes and uniforms available.
From this open culture data donation, the graphic designer Ronja Ehrhardt developed the idea of the virtual historical wardrobe.
An app that brings the textile past to life outside of museums and exhibitions and offers playful entertainment.
The idea was convincing and was ultimately awarded the Coding da Vinci audience prize.
The project is being developed as part of the "dive in.
program for digital interactions" of the Federal Cultural Foundation, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM) in the NEUSTART KULTUR program.
