Ddembelyo is a mobile app that provides convenient healthcare services to its users.
Since its launch, the app has undergone several modifications to improve its functionality and user experience.
In this report, we will outline the most recent modifications made to the app.
A lot of Ugandans experience their own set of unique barriers to accessing essential health services in Uganda.
These include transphobia, stigma and discrimination, and a pervasive lack of understanding and insight into their health needs among Health Care Professionals (HCPs).
This continued lack of insight into the trans community among HCPs in Uganda has resulted in the community generally being overlooked within the public health sector.
In addition, it has led to the creation of atmospheres within Health Centers that are not respectful, supportive, and affirming of, and conducive to, providing care for trans people.
This forces the majority of the trans population in Uganda away from the facilities.
The Ddembelyo app has been designed to bypass the barriers.
The app allows you to conveniently avoid the long lineups, odd stares, chattering among medical personnel, and having to constantly explain your gender identity to Health Care Professionals (HCPs) because, for the first time, you can instantly locate HCPs, book appointments and contact HCPs by the simple click of a button.
