OUR HISTORY GENFORTALT: A symphony for a place is created in seven places in seven municipalities in the Region Midt.
The works are composed by Gorm Askjr for the classical ensemble Lydenskap, with lyrics by citizens, summarized by author Ursula Andkjr Olsen.
Every place will create a site-specific work in processes involving citizens.
The process and the way the community is involved will be the driving force behind the final outcome that will shape itself as a unique concert performance in each location.
Each symphony lasts approx.
60 minutes and will include composed music, sound installations, texts and scenographic elements.
There will also be tools and artistic material that will be developed during the entire project period and in this way a joint story about the Region Midt will be created, which will eventually be presented as a common symphony on Himmelbjerget.
The symphonies are assigned to selected places in the Region Midt, as well as the people and events that are part of the places.
We explore the connection between ourselves and the world, past and present, local communities, our own little stories and the great unifying history.
The works are created in collaboration with local citizens, cultural institutions and relevant artists from other art forms.
Each work will have its own local distinctiveness and soundtrack from the specific place, the process and the people who have helped to create it, but all works will also have similarities in structure and content, and thus the project will carry stories about individual local identities, but also a collective, common story about the new, diverse, Middle-earth identity.
The foundation stone of the project is the poetic texts that reflect the local communities, prepared in writing workshops with Ursula Andkjr Olsen.
Here the citizens are made co-authors of the symphony's texts.
The sounds of the place are incorporated by Gorm Askjr, who has a broad musical profile, primarily from jazz and into classical music.
Audience, Ursula Andkjr Olsen and Gorm Askjr are inspired by the anthropological approach and investigate stories, sounds, codes etc.
in relationships and society.
The project thus lets the artists stand as a medium that exposes a local culture.
Each site facilitates a number of meetings / living labs with local citizens, associations, schools, cultural institutions, artists, etc., where ideas, stories and sound material are collected from tried and tested methods.
The material is processed by the involved professional artists.
Through workshops and open samples, local forces are more directly involved in the design of the final work of art, where some will also participate either live or via recorded audio / Video material.
The final work of art is presented at a concert at the selected location.
