The Support Program for the Development of Non-Timber Forest Products phase 3 (PFNL3) is implemented in partnership with the NGO TREE AID and the financial support of Swiss and Dutch cooperation.
It follows two first phases carried out respectively by the FAO (2012-2016) and TREE AID (2017-2020) always with the support of Swiss cooperation.
The mid-term evaluation of phase 2 showed that the program produced knowledge and generated indisputable results, but in a context that justifies the need for continued intervention.
The third phase intervenes, like phase 2 in its last years, in a context where the country is experiencing security constraints due to the activity of unidentified armed men (HANI) in several regions, causing forced displacement of populations.
In addition, the country is affected by the Covid 19 pandemic like other countries in the world, With the aim of consolidating the achievements of Phase 2, strengthening the actors and taking into account new challenges in the direction of sustainability of the effects, Swiss cooperation has decided to finance this third four-year phase.
A Formulation Guidance Note was therefore developed and the project formulated in a participatory manner before the closure of PFNL2 under the guidance of TREE AID,
The overall objective of phase 3 is as follows: "rural and peri-urban households, - including internally displaced persons (IDPs), women and young people - improve their production and secure their incomes through the sustainable exploitation NWFP sectors and better access to markets.
Achieving this objective will contribute to improving the living conditions of rural households and IDPs while promoting the national anchoring of NWFP sectors and ensuring its economic and institutional sustainability.
